Frank Mendham has been involved in dangerous goods and industrial fire and risk engineering for several decades and currently is a Fellow and the national president of the Australasian Institute of Dangerous Goods Consultants (AIDGC). Frank has explored and refined the use of risk-based approaches to hazardous chemicals storage and handling in Australia since 2005, developing its effectiveness through analytical, experimental and numerical methods. Frank is a strong advocate of applying robust scientific methods to hazardous chemicals facilities’ design and hazardous land use planning, rather than simply applying prescriptive methods. He has represented AIDGC on Technical Committee MS-011 (Hazardous Area Classification), CE-005 (Explosives) and also is involved in various International Standards development.
